‘My dog Flipper is 17yrs old this year..That’s 17 human years!
I’ll never forget the first day I saw her. A farmers dog had a litter and he needed to find homes for the pups or else he’d have to put them down. I arrived up to the farm, walked over to the litter and this one pup looked up at me with one blue eye and one grey eye. I knew she was the one for me.
Only problem was that my mother didn’t want a dog in the house.
I arrived home with Flipper in an old Tayto box, my mother was in by the fire, I set the box down beside her and out rolled this little puppy. She took one look at her and fell in love, they were inseparable after that. She’d walk down to the shops without a lead and everything, Flipper would never leave her side.
A couple of weeks after my mother died Flipper got sick, she stopped taking food or drinking water. We took her to the vet and after all their tests they couldn’t find anything medically wrong with her. The vet asked if anything dramatic had happened in her life recently, when I said that my mother had passed he said that was it. She missed her buddy.’ – k
